Resonate

I created Resonate, a wellness app designed to help users improve their mental well-being by tracking emotions, practicing mindfulness, and engaging in daily journaling. Problem

Many individuals seeking better mental well-being struggle with maintaining consistency in their practices. Current wellness apps often feel generic and fail to address the need for personalized, meaningful engagement. This lack of connection results in low adoption rates and poor user retention.

Solution

Resonate addresses these challenges by offering a tailored and user-friendly platform. With features like emotion tracking, personalized journaling prompts, and guided mindfulness exercises, Resonate helps users build sustainable habits while fostering emotional awareness and growth. The app prioritizes simplicity and customization to meet diverse user needs effectively.

Data Collection

I conducted surveys and interviews with users to identify their pain points related to mental wellness apps. Common themes included a lack of personalization, overwhelming interfaces, and insufficient engagement with emotional progress tracking. This research helped me design Resonate to prioritize user-centric solutions, such as mood tracking and personalized mindfulness exercises.

Personas

I developed personas to represent our target users. These personas ensured our design decisions addressed diverse needs while remaining focused on simplicity and accessibility.

Competitive Research

I analyzed leading wellness apps like Calm and Headspace, identifying opportunities for Resonate to stand out with unique features like emotional progress graphs, mood-based journaling prompts, and an integrated social support system. This research informed my approach to blending guided wellness practices with customizable tools.

Site Map

The sitemap organized Resonate into core sections: "Mood Tracker," "Daily Check-Ins," "Guided Mindfulness," and "Progress Reports." This clear structure ensures users can easily navigate the app and access the tools they need without feeling overwhelmed.

Task Flow

The task flow mapped out the user journey from opening the app to completing a mood check-in. For instance: Open the app and select "Daily Mood Check-In." Rate your mood on a scale and add an optional journal entry. View emotional trends in the "Progress Reports" section. This flow was designed for simplicity to encourage consistent use.

Sketches

I created initial sketches to explore layout ideas for the mood tracker, check-ins, and guided exercises. These low-fidelity designs focused on how users interact with the app, ensuring core features are accessible and intuitive.

Wireframes

The wireframes detailed the layout of each screen, including the home page, mood tracker, and reports. By focusing on functionality and content placement, we ensured a seamless user experience before advancing to high-fidelity designs.

Hi-Fi &First Prototype

The first prototype brought the app’s visual and functional elements to life. It included features like animated transitions for mood tracking and visually engaging progress reports. Usability testing with the prototype revealed areas to improve, such as simplifying navigation and improving the onboarding process.

Style Tile

I developed a style tile to guide the app’s visual identity. Resonate uses calming colors like soft blues and greens to evoke tranquility. Rounded typography promotes approachability, while subtle animations enhance engagement without overwhelming users.

Usability Testing Overview

I conducted usability testing on the high-fidelity prototype of the *Resonate* app with six participants over two rounds. Key Issues Identified: - Complex Navigation: Users struggled to locate features like emotion tracking. - Overwhelming Onboarding: The onboarding process felt lengthy and unclear for some participants. Solutions Implemented: - Simplified navigation by incorporating a bottom menu for easy access to key features. - Streamlined onboarding by reducing steps and adding visual cues to improve clarity. This iterative process ensured a more user-friendly design, enhancing alignment with the app's goals.

UI Design

I finalized the UI with a minimalistic yet engaging design. The clean layout, clear icons, and visually appealing graphics create a seamless and delightful user experience, encouraging consistent mental wellness practices.
